Editorial Standards

Last updated: October 4, 2026

Chronos Score publishes live football data, statistical rankings and written football articles. This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to across all of it: how we source information, how we separate data from opinion, who is responsible for what we publish, how we handle people mentioned in our content, and how we fix mistakes.

1. What We Publish

Our content falls into three clearly different types, and we label them so you can tell which is which:

2. Sources and Accuracy

Live scores, fixtures, standings, lineups and player statistics are supplied by API-Football, a third-party sports-data provider. Expected Goals (xG) figures are calculated by us from each team's scoring and conceding form, using that data as input. Headline links in our "Latest Football News" sidebar come from Sky Sports' public football RSS feed: we show only each headline's title and thumbnail, and every link opens the original article on skysports.com.

In our editorial articles, factual claims — results, figures, dates, quotes, transfers — are checked against the data on this site or a named, reliable source before publication. We do not publish rumours as fact, we do not invent or alter quotes, and where something is unconfirmed we say so plainly.

3. Data, Analysis and Opinion

We keep the three apart. Numbers come from data. Analysis explains what the numbers show and says how it reached its conclusion. Opinion is presented as opinion. Statistical pages are regularly refreshed summaries — closer to a league table than a live wire report — and we do not present them as breaking news.

Data tells you what happened. Our articles try to tell you why it matters, and always make clear which of the two you are reading.

4. Independence and Funding

Chronos Score is funded by advertising and in-app subscriptions. Advertisers and partners have no influence over our scores, rankings, predictions or editorial content, and we do not accept payment to publish or promote a particular article, team or result. Any sponsored or commercial content, if we ever run it, will be clearly labelled as such.

5. How Articles Are Written and Reviewed

Editorial articles are written and approved by the Chronos Score editorial team. Nothing is published without an editor reading, fact-checking and approving it, and the editor remains responsible for the final text. Our automated statistical pages are generated from live data and are reviewed periodically for accuracy and wording.

6. People in Our Content

We cover players, coaches, referees and clubs because of their public sporting role. We stick to information related to that role — performances, results, statistics, injuries and transfers that are publicly reported — and we respect privacy: we do not publish private or family matters, or sensitive personal information, unless there is a clear and significant public interest. If you are named in our content and believe something is inaccurate or intrudes unfairly on your privacy, contact us and we will review it promptly.

7. Corrections and Updates

We correct genuine errors quickly and openly. When we materially change an article after publication, we show the date it was last updated on the page, and for significant corrections we add a short note explaining what was changed. To report an error, email us with a link to the page and a description of the issue. Because match and player statistics come from a third-party provider (Section 2), some corrections depend on that provider's data being updated first. We aim to reply to correction and removal requests within a few working days.

8. Right of Reply and Removal Requests

If a person or organisation mentioned in an article wishes to respond, we will consider publishing a reasonable reply or clarification alongside it. Requests to correct or remove personal information are assessed case by case, balancing the individual's rights against the public interest in the information.

9. Images

Article images are used for editorial, illustrative purposes alongside content about the league, club or competition pictured. If you are a rights holder and believe an image has been used without proper authorisation, contact us and we will review the request and remove or replace the image promptly.

10. No Betting Advice

Nothing on chronosscore.com — including xG figures, rankings, predictions, statistical articles or editorial pieces — constitutes betting, gambling or financial advice. All content is provided for information and entertainment only. If gambling is a problem for you or someone you know, please seek support from a local help service.
